Mihimihi

My Mihimhi designed boat shed is based on the environment I grew up in, on the West coast of the South Island. The Native bush thrives off the wet conditions therefore it covers the coast line. As the bush ages over my lifetime so do I. It has been a place to explore and escape for me that is why I have chosen to use the idea 'outdoors indoors' for the interior of my boat shed. It symbolises the fact you can never explore every corner of the bush and it always has secrets to discover just like Wellington which I am only beginning to explore. It's my safe haven.

Part of my 15 drawings - it's all very over the place, sorry.

Experimenting: I chose these as I wanted to create a shadow in my boat shed which could be from a natural light,street light or just a lamp. As I chose the idea of bringing the outdoors indoors I decided the last image as It reminds me of home when I sit under the tree and look at the sun shining through the branches.
